I can’t do a pullup, can I take an aerial class?

Yes! This is one of the biggest misconceptions about getting started in aerial arts. Come as you are! You will build muscles as you learn. Our classes use progressive curriculum, meaning we build upon the skills we learn, and over time, progress to new goals. Movements can be adjusted to be made easier or more difficult depending on your needs.

What age ranges For classes?

Youth Classes 7-11 years old, Teen classes are 12-15 years old, Adult classes are 16+. If you have a child younger than 7 years old, check out our private lesson offerings. Students 15+ can choose to take the teen or adult classes.

Which level class should I sign up for?

Classes are offered in levels depending on skill and experience - Level 1 and Level 2. It is normal for adult, teens, and youth students to repeat a level for several sessions before progressing to the next level. All first time students are welcome to Level 1 or Sampler classes.

We recommend youth participants take the Youth Intro to Aerial Sampler class first, which teaches all the foundation movements and allows students to try all of our core apparatuses. Taking the Youth Aerial Sampler is NOT required to take a Level 1 class, however it does offer more variety for students learning what apparatus they prefer.

How do the prerequisites work?

All Intro and Level 1 classes have no prerequisites to attend, meaning no experience is necessary. Level 2 and up classes have pre-reqs listed and require instructor clearance. If you are visiting from out of town please read the pre-reqs for the class you would like to attend and email hello@birdseyeviewcircus.com with a description and video sample that shows your experience level. If you do not have the pre-reqs yet for a class, there will be no “signup” button next to the class until an instructor has granted permission.

How do I know if there is room in a class?

Our classes often sell out, especially the closer to the start date you enroll. If you have a specific class in mind you want to enroll in, login to your circus dB account (you’ll need to have a login and password to view the schedule), and click on the “series classes” tab (step 3). This will show you the full schedule of what we are offering for that series. Any class that has a “SIGN UP” button next to the class still has room in it. If you and a friend are trying to enroll together, feel free to email or ask an instructor to make sure there are enough spots for both of you.

How long are classes, what is the commitment and studio schedule?

Classes meet once a week on their scheduled day and time. All aerial classes run in 4-week sessions with a one-week break afterward (no drop-ins or makeup classes at this time). Adult aerial classes are 75 minutes long, while youth and teen aerial classes are 60 minutes long.

All ground skills classes are 60 minutes and can be taken either as a 4-week session or drop-ins are available.

What if I need to miss a class during the series?

If you need to miss a class please login to your Circus dB account, go to your schedule, and select the green ‘cancel’ button next to the date you will miss. This automatically lets your instructor know not to wait for you in the lobby on that day. When you register for class you reserve space, your instructor’s time and an apparatus for that series, so we do not offer makeups or transfers of class credits.
